Genpact: Professional services firm Genpact looks to grow data, tech and AI services | marketrealtime.com


Global professional services company Genpact is looking to focus on driving its data, technology, and AI services by hiring, reskilling, and redeploying employees at scale over the next year.

The skills and cohorts where the company is seeing the most pressure include digital technologies, data science, data analytics, specific supply chain services, and some technology services.

“As a result of the pandemic and the acceleration of digital transformation across industries, the demand for data science functions is at an all-time high. The demand is simply outweighing supply on these kinds of skills especially when you combine them with specific industry and process knowledge, which is a huge differentiator,” Amaresh Tripathy, global analytics business leader at Genpact, told ET.

The company is seeing strong demand for its data-technology-AI services, particularly in areas such as supply chain, sales and commercial, and risk, where it designs and builds solutions using data and modern technologies to help transform clients’ businesses and operations.

Data technology and AI make up about a third of the firm’s business right now, which it expects to go up to 50% by 2026, said Tripathy.
The firm has more than 14,000 data professionals globally, out of which 70% are in India.

“By 2026, we aim to increase the revenue contribution of our data-technology-AI services to 50% overall and we’re looking to double our current number of data analytics experts,” Tripathy told ET.

The firm is looking to hire talent proficient in data engineering, data visualisation, and advanced analytics skills, along with domain expertise – in-depth understanding of their industry or function, awareness of how to harness the potential of digital technologies at scale and leverage soft skills to optimise collaboration with others and interpret and leverage data.

Apart from hiring data analytics talent out of campuses, the firm has embarked on training and upskilling initiatives for analytics talent.
“We have invested in building infrastructure around fostering a culture of continuous learning to enable people who invest in themselves to get access to new opportunities and larger responsibilities. By upskilling our employees in data and analytics, we have increased team visibility and communication, shifting employees away from transactional projects and into insight-generating roles,” said Tripathy.

Earlier this year, the company rolled out SkyDive Academy, a 6 week-long immersive learning and development experience for people across data engineering, data visualisation and advanced analytics.

By the year 2023, the company intends to scale the programme to 1000+ campus recruits and develop a pool of specialised analytics talent.

“Besides this, we have Machine Learning Incubator, our flagship hybrid learning programme that drives contextualised learning to data science aspirants alongside their regular flow of work,” Tripathy said.

The programme drives upskilling in data science, data engineering, and augmented intelligence. ML Incubator 1.0 and 2.0 had received over 1300 applications and about 700 people have graduated from the programme in total.

The firm has also trained more than 58,000 employees through DataBridge, its data and analytics certification programme, besides also using its on-demand online learning platform Genome to reskill employees across industry and process knowledge, digital, data, analytics capabilities, and personal development skills at scale.
